About Symposium

Created in 2015 by Ash Pournouri, Founder of At Night Management and Spotify’s Founder Daniel Ek, Symposium Stockholm is a week-long festival for creative individuals with powerful ideas to come together and experience a creative home, at the intersection of tech, music, fashion and innovation. We’re building a movement to challenge the present and innovate the future by using technology to connect the next generation of leaders.

Office Hours hosted by Accel is a forum for entrepreneurs to meet investors and discuss a topic of their choosing - pitch practice, board advice, product feedback - anything goes! The event will be held on Wednesday 7th June from 1PM to 5PM at Norrsken House in Stockholm. 7 June: STOCKHOLM FASHION TECH TALKS

The first edition of Stockholm Fashion Tech Talks will take place at Fotografiska. A day of lectures and discussions on the fusion of fashion and technology.
Designers, scientists and business leaders, innovators and motivators – the conference brings together the world’s foremost visionaries in their fields.
What can we expect from the future? How is the industry, the consumer, and the actual clothes we wear, affected by fast and simultaneous development in fields such as wearable technology, materials innovation, big data and artificial intelligence?
Stockholm Fashion Tech Talks is initiated by Patriksson Communication and Association of Swedish Fashion Brands (ASFB). Curated by Linda Leopold. Supported by Vinnova and AxFoundation.

8-9 June: BRILLIANT MINDS

Brilliant Minds June 8-9 is the intimate flagship event of Symposium Stockholm that gathers the world’s edgiest creators and purposeful leaders. Brilliant Minds is a collaborative platform for innovating the future by relentlessly challenging the present. The theme for Brilliant Minds in 2017 is “Numanity”. The marriage between humanity and technology is the great test of modern times. Soon everything will be connected to the Internet. Politics, personal identity and tech will need to speak a more unified language and build a common story of the next wave of human evolution. At Brilliant Minds 2017 we co-write the narrative of “Numanity”, the story and values that will drive the future of how humans will relate to technology and how technology will change the definition of humanity.

9-10 June: SUMMERBURST

Run by Stureplansgruppen, Summerburst is Scandinavia’s premier contemporary music event. The two day music extravaganza held in Gothenburg and Stockholm welcomes music lovers from all over the world. 2017 is the seventh year for Summerburst in Stockholm with world class artists including Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Justin Bieber, Tiësto and Eric Prydz. 12-13 June: EAT STOCKHOLM FOOD FORUM 2017

EAT gathers the brightest minds from the fields of science, politics, business and civil society, offering a truly unique arena for interdisciplinary dialogue and action. Topics will range from Innovation and Biotechnology to the economics of food systems. Speakers include Caleb Harper from MIT Media Lab, who will share the exciting and innovative ways that biotech is revolutionizing the urban food system. Yolanda Kakabadse, WWFs International President and former Ecuadorian Minister of Environment will share tips on production patterns related to food. The EAT Foundation is co-founded by the Stordalen Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and Stockholm Resilience Centre. Read More

14 June: POLAR TALKS

Polar Talks, presented by The Polar Music Prize, is an international series of inspiring talks and lectures on cutting edge topics. Artists, scientists, creatives and opinion makers coalesce around the central theme of ”The Power of Music”. The not-to-be-missed talks focus on some of the myriad ways that music can produce powerful outcomes across a range of social, artistic and scientific disciplines. Music has the power to change the world and the Polar Talks inspires all who attend, to do just that. 15 June: POLAR MUSIC PRIZE

The Polar Music Prize was founded in 1989 by the late Stig ”Stikkan” Anderson, one of the true greats in the history of popular music. As the publisher, lyricist and manager of ABBA, he played a key role in their enormous success. The Polar Music Prize is one of the most prestigious and unique music prizes in the world, crossing over musical boundaries and awarded to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional achievements. The board of the Stig Anderson Music Award Foundation includes representatives from the Stig Anderson family, SKAP (The Swedish Society of Popular Music Composers) and STIM (The Swedish Performing Rights Society). The task of scrutinizing nominations and selecting the final Laureates is undertaken by an Award Committee comprised of experienced members of the music industry, representatives from the Anderson family, musicians, and previous Laureates. 17 June: DENNIZ POP AWARDS

The Denniz Pop Awards is an initiative founded and run by former Cheiron Studios members, co-workers, friends and family with the goal of helping new songwriters, producers and artists continue the legacy Denniz Pop once started. Through the MVP and Grand Prize Awards, they aim to recognize both the unsung heroes and those who have made an outstanding contribution to promote Swedish music internationally. Read More

Symposium 2016

Symposium Stockholm 2016 was a week-long festival, challenging conventional thinking is business and society and identifying new drivers, incentives and components of modern creativity. At Brilliant Minds we In 2016 we welcomed a truly global audience, from Uber to Harper’s Bazaar, YouTube to Sony Music, AOL to Alphabet, Harvard University to Basel Art Fair phenomena, Maker’s Studio to Charity: Water. Leaders across tech, art, music, politics and fashion flooded Stockholm, the world’s creative capital and helped form what former Swedish Prime Minister and prolific foreign policy social media personality dubbed “the new installation to the magical Swedish Summer”.

In 2016, Brilliant Minds achieved a new level: it was “emotional architecture”, said Guest of Honor Quincy Jones. It went beyond the evolution of pure technology and provoked guests to challenge their own identities and personal biases in an authentic, intimate forum.

Guests awakened their curiosity with talks from Alphabet Chairman Eric Schmidt, the UK Minister for Internet Safety Baroness Joanna Shields, Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, technology journalist and co-founder of Recode Kara Swisher, artists J.R., Doug Aitken and Jordan Wolfson, Skype and Atomico founder Niklas Zennstrom amongst many other international luminaries. All this was set amidst the fresh underground sounds of Icona Pop, Lykke Li, Miriam Bryant and breaking new music acts like The Royal Concept, Alias and Albin Lee Minau, who are shaking the streaming scene. The Polar Music Prize and Polar Talks 2016

The Polar Music Prize is one of the most prestigious and unique prizes in the world, crossing over musical boundaries and awarded to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional achievements. Laureates from a wide range of countries, cultures and continents have received the Prize in Stockholm from His Majesty, King Carl XVI Gustaf. In 2016 the Polar Prize Laureates were Max Martin and Cecilia Bartoli. Previous winners of the Polar Music Prize include Elton John, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, Ennio Morricone, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Renée Fleming, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Isaac Stern, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Gilberto Gil, Joni Mitchell, B.B. King, Emmylou Harris, Yo-Yo Ma, Patti Smith, Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Dizzy Gillespie, Youssou N'Dour and Bruce Springsteen.The Polar Music Prize is held annually in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Denniz Pop Awards 2016

The Denniz Pop Awards were created by former producers at the legendary Cherion Studios, together with colleagues, friends and family of the late Denniz Pop. The goal is to help new songwriters, producers and artists continue the legacy Denniz Pop once started. The jury consists of Denniz Pop’s producer and songwriter colleagues Max Martin, Rami Yacoub, Jorgen Elofsson, Andreas Carlsson, Jacob Schulz, John Amatiello, Kristian Lundin, David Krueger and Per Magnusson.

Winners of the 2016 awards were Linnea, Emanuel & Iman (Songwriter and Producer), Alessandra Günthardt (Artist / Band), Marie Dimberg (The MVP), Mattman and Robin (The Grand Prize). Previous winners include Avicii, Ash Pournouri, Tove Lo and Swedish House Mafia.

Summerburst 2016

Run by Stureplansgruppen, Summerburst is Scandinavia’s premier contemporary music event. Since 2011 the annual music extravaganza has grown from 13,000 visitors during one day in Stockholm to 120,000 visitors during two days in both Gothenburg and Stockholm. Artists in 2016 included Alesso, Kygo, Axwell ^ Ingrosso and David Guetta.
